Public procurement within the EU’s single market is a venture with a specific nature, needs and outcomes. European cities considered to be large public buyers are invited to attend a meeting in Brussels to discuss these specificities, with a special focus on innovation, organised by the European Commission’s DG GROW in collaboration with EUROCITIES on 6 December 2017. One of the central outcomes of this non-regular meeting will be to facilitate the exchange of best practices among stakeholders.
As well as a chance for industry leaders to brainstorm on possible partnerships, there will be talks on linking buyers and suppliers, cross-border partnership in public procurement, and a session on digital transformation in relation to this process. Nathan Pierce, director of Sharing Cities, will deliver unique insights into demand aggregation and joint procurement in the field of innovation, gleaned from close cooperation with the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities and with other lighthouse projects.
