The City Council has a workforce of 3,000 employees and an annual budget (2012) of more than 289 million euro, being considered financially one of the most sound public entities in the Country, and for years occupying the top position in all management rankings in Spanish public sector. Valladolid is a city of 300,000 inhabitants (500,000 in the metropolitan area), the capital city of Castilla y Leon Autonomous community, and central base to one of the most important Universities in Spain, in whose Scientific & Technology Park the City Council is actively involved. Valladolid has frequently participated as partner in international cooperation projects.
Mobility and Transport, is one of the axes of interest within the Smart City initiative Valladolid-Palencia (VyP) (Website), especially with the introduction of electric vehicles in the city and comes being developed in several longstanding projects.
The strategic line is situated within the frame of urban city model and its objective is to improve several aspects of the quality of life in Valladolid, dealing with the urban environment in general, but also, in particular, urbanism, mobility, energy and natural resources rational use (including savings), among other areas including sustainable development.
